Cardıovascular Surgery

Cardiovascular Surgery

Cardiac surgery, also known as cardiovascular surgery, is a surgical procedure performed to treat problems related to the heart and major blood vessels. This type of surgery is used to treat a range of conditions including heart diseases, coronary artery disease, heart valve problems, aneurysms, and heart failure.

Cardiac surgery is typically performed through a method called open-heart surgery. In this approach, the surgeon accesses the heart by opening the chest cavity. The heart is temporarily stopped, and a heart-lung machine is used to circulate blood and oxygen throughout the body while the surgeon makes necessary corrections in the heart and blood vessels.

Cardiac surgery can involve various procedures. Some common procedures include coronary artery bypass grafting (bypass surgery), heart valve repair or replacement, correction of heart aneurysms, and repair of aortic aneurysms. In some cases, more complex procedures such as heart transplantation or implantation of a ventricular assist device may be required.

Cardiac surgery can be an effective option to improve heart and vascular health and treat serious cardiac conditions. However, these surgical procedures generally involve significant medical intervention and carry risks. It is important to consult with a cardiologist or cardiac surgeon to determine the most suitable treatment option for each patient.
