Root Canal Treatment

Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is a dental procedure in which the living tissues inside a tooth are removed and the empty space is filled with a filling material. This procedure is performed when the living tissues inside the tooth are infected or dead due to decay, trauma, or other damages.

Root canal treatment is commonly used to treat painful teeth. Painful teeth can occur due to inflammation or infection of the living tissues inside the tooth. In this case, the inside of the tooth is cleaned, and the infected tissues are removed. Then, the root canal space is filled with a special filling material, and the upper part of the tooth is sealed.

Root canal treatment is usually completed in several stages. In the first stage, the dentist creates an opening to clean the infection or inflammation inside the tooth. Then, the root canal space is cleaned and shaped using special files. This process is repeated to ensure that all the canals are thoroughly cleaned and shaped. In the final stage, the root canal space is filled with a special filling material, and the upper part of the tooth is restored with a filling or a crown.

Root canal treatment preserves the tooth by removing infected tissues without causing harm to its health and function. However, after root canal treatment, the roots of the tooth may become weaker and more susceptible to fractures. Therefore, the dentist recommends regular check-ups and proper oral hygiene care.
