Intensive Care

Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is an important department in hospitals that provides intensive monitoring, treatment, and support for patients who are experiencing serious illnesses or injuries. Intensive care aims to support vital functions and minimize life-threatening risks by providing a well-equipped environment.

Intensive care units are often referred to as Intensive Care Units (ICUs) or Critical Care Units (CCUs). In these units, specialized physicians, nurses, and other medical staff make concerted efforts to treat complex diseases.

Patients treated in the intensive care unit may include:

  1. Patients who have undergone major surgeries: Patients who have undergone major surgeries and require intensive monitoring are treated in the ICU. Their respiratory, circulatory, and other vital functions are closely monitored and supported if necessary.

  2. Patients undergoing organ transplantation: Patients in the post-transplant period may need to use immunosuppressive drugs. The ICU monitors these patients and keeps potential complications under control.

  3. Patients with respiratory disorders requiring intensive care: For example, diseases like Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS) may require intensive care. Respiratory support and oxygen therapy are crucial for such patients.

  4. Sepsis or severe infections: Severe infections can affect various systems in the body and lead to organ failure. The ICU continuously monitors the condition of these patients and provides necessary treatments.

  5. Trauma or severe injuries: Patients who have suffered multiple traumas or severe burns require special monitoring and treatment in the ICU.

Intensive care units are equipped with advanced technological equipment and monitoring systems. Highly trained healthcare professionals provide 24-hour services to ensure patient safety in these units.

Keep in mind that the intensive care unit is a department used for the treatment of critically ill patients. Therefore, intensive care requires specialized medical expertise and continuous attention to provide optimal care.
