Ultrasonography is a imaging technique that uses sound waves to visualize structures inside the body. Ultrasonography is commonly used in medical diagnosis and treatment processes.

 

Ultrasonography is based on the principle of high-frequency sound waves propagating through the body tissues. An ultrasound device consists of a probe (transducer) that emits and detects the sound waves. The probe is placed on the body, and as the sound waves pass through the body tissues, they are reflected back. The reflected sound waves are detected by the probe and processed by a computer to create an image.

Ultrasonography assists in visualizing organs, blood vessels, tissues, and fluid accumulations within the body. It is used in various medical conditions such as monitoring the fetus during pregnancy, evaluating internal organs like the liver, kidneys, thyroid, heart, detecting tumors, and assessing tissue damage.

Ultrasonography has several advantages. These include being a painless imaging method, not using radiation, and providing real-time images. Additionally, it allows for the visualization of moving structures and is a non-invasive technique.
